Āio Media was honoured to once again collaborate with the Aronui Indigenous Arts Festival, producing captivating festival content for 2024.
This year’s event featured an early activation with the extraordinary Matariki Māori drone light show, the first of its kind in the world. Held over two nights during Matariki weekend, the dazzling display illuminated the skies above Rotorua and attracted over 30,000 spectators, creating a memorable and historic moment for all involved.
The 2024 Aronui Festival spanned two weeks in September, showcasing the immense talent of Indigenous artists across various Rotorua venues. From breathtaking performances to culturally rich installations, the festival celebrated the diversity and creativity of Indigenous arts.
Founded by acclaimed actress and director Cian Elyse White (Te Arawa), the Aronui Indigenous Arts Festival champions Māori culture and the arts. Its core mission is to uplift and inspire through Indigenous storytelling, crafted by Māori artists for audiences worldwide. Now in its third year, Aronui has become a cornerstone of cultural celebration in Rotorua, fostering connection and empowerment through art.
Āio Media was proud to serve as the exclusive supplier of videography and professional photography for this year’s festival. We captured stunning images, engaging social media reels, and a comprehensive after-movie that encapsulated the magic of Aronui 2024. The festival achieved record-breaking engagement, with more content produced and shared than ever before. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Aronui, Cian, James, and the entire team for trusting us once again to tell your powerful stories through our lenses.
